Ancestral Lands Program aka “Aiders of the Lost Arch” (ALA) Program

Through its collaboration with land managing agencies, foundations, grantors, universities and local area archaeological centers, CTW provides opportunities for member participants (students, young adults and veterans) to assist archaeologists with restoration of prehistoric sites throughout the panhandle area in NW Florida and are exposed to the prehistoric interaction along the northern Gulf coast.  Such projects include working closely with the archaeologist and historic cultural representatives with National Forests In Florida, the project provided members to participate in restoration of Prospect Bluff Historic, formerly known as Fort Gadsden and Negro Fort, site leading up to its 100th CommemorationAdditionally, CTW is working closely with a private archaeology foundation, professors and institutions on a coastal shell midden restoration project on Swift Creek and Weeden Island period (A.D. 500-100) site known as Byrd Hammock on the St Marks National Wildlife Refuge.
